S38 is my best
guess at the side sump in South Passage, from your description, Kev. I
hadn't noticed this one before, but understand it to be more or less where the
two cascade pools are.
S40 is the
right-hand side passage where the main route turns left, just after the
cascade. It looks like it might be a mud filled passage similar to the
sump at S50. I think it was also full of water the first time I went
into South Passage.
I've listed all
the possible side passages that I am aware of that might be worthy of a dig at
some point in the future. There's quite a few! I'd like to capture
all the old digs back in the old cave too, for completeness, it anyone can let
me know what they are all called and where they are?
I've listed some
of the avens, at least all the ones recorded in the survey
notes.
I'm sure there
are other possible dig sites and avens, so let me know where they are and I'll
mark them on. Let me know also what text you want recorded - the sort of
thing I was thinking was the name of the person and date the dig was
started or aven climbed. In some cases it might be hard to attribute to
a single person, but let's see what comes up.
On that note, who
climbed The Old Curiosity Shop? Was it Brian, Bill and
Peat?
Was it Joel
that climbed Zebra Aven, and when was
that?
Tim - when did
you climb into that deep pool - is it above Duck-Under-Boss?

Neither, I think it's either S38 or S40.

All,
Find attached the latest output from the UFS
survey: the Upper Flood Continuations map. This apires to show
all digs, continuations and avens (I also have similar now showing all the
fixed survey stations). They are listed by name (referring to the
nearest survey station), and there is additional information output in the
continations table (txt and html versions attached). All the
information is stored directly in the survey data, against each survey
station. I can print any of the information on the map, but as it is
crowded, I've currently chosen only to show the name, which can be used to
lookup in the table for the additional details.
I know the data is not complete, so
please do help me by sending me any additional information you want
included. Let me know what you think or if you have any
questions about the project.
When complete, I plan to publish
in the newsletter, so please do not publish this on Yahoo or elsewhere
till then.
